Welcome to The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland.

In spring 2024, Fort Calgary changed its name to The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland.

Under this new name, we are freer to expand the narrative of this place to encompass the many diverse histories of the land. Stories of the North-West Mounted Police and Fort Calgary help to define this place and will always be a part of the narrative here, but there are other important stories to be told, too. At The Confluence, storytelling is liberated and history is an open and welcoming book.

WHERE STORIES
COME TOGETHER.

The two rivers meet.

Like the Bow and Elbow rivers that meet here, so do countless stories. Some are as old as time. Some are forever intertwined.

The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland is a destination for locals to find a sense of identity and connection to the land they live on, and where tourists can learn the stories and cultures of this special place.

I'táámito'táaattsiiyio'pi

(harmonious meeting place)

In spring 2024, Blackfoot Elder Leonard Bastien Weasel Traveller gave The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland the Blackfoot name I'táámito'táaattsiiyio'pi. We are honoured to hold this name and continue our work as a harmonious meeting place.
